Geofrabrics Grassroots, the prequel to Bunkermat, the best synthetic fibre blanket for your golf course needs.

Castle Hill Country Club is situated in the north western suburbs of Sydney. During maintenance of the Castle Hill Country Club golf course, it was decided that the drainage within the bunkers were becoming an issue.

The problem is that the golf course is built on clay which means that over time clay particles wash down to the base of the bunker to create a 'clay pan', this in turn leads to water ponding at the base of the bunker and thus not allowing the bunker to drain efficiently.

From previous experiences on other golf courses in Sydney it was decided to use Grassroots.

Grassroots is an Australian made synthetic fibre blanket, generally used to prevent scour of channel beds.

In this application the open nature of the geotextiles traps the sand on the steep slopes of the bunker while acting as a separation layer between the sand and the clay.

The grassroots is anchored beneath the lip of the bunker and simple pinning at the overlaps keeps the grassroots in place.

An added bonus of the grassroots on the steep faces of the bunkers means fewer plugged golf balls and unplayable lies.

Applications such as this have led to the evolution of a new product bunkermat.
