With more and more houses now built with a ground floor concrete slab, and increasingly a first floor slab as well, the trend is towards overlay timber floors, glued straight onto the slab or on a plywood underlay.

The Good House offers a range of French Oak timber floors suitable for such methods of installation, parquetry blocks being one of them.

Of course Herringbone is the most popular pattern of installing blocks, as it provides a stylish look with affordable installation cost (see picture of an Armadale residence interior by French designer Alain Fall). Square patterns are even classier, though most of them are labour intensive. On request we can supply pre-cut blocks to fit your designs and patterns.

The Good House only supplies genuine French Oak back stamped and guaranteed from sustainable forestry. The grade shown on these pictures is 'rustic and better', which provides a warmer, more intricate texture on which light loves to play. A clear finish will put an emphasis on the rustic fingers, a darker stain likely to subdue the differences.

The Good House keeps in stock larger than standard blocks, in the 75mm width. If you wish a wider pattern, we recommend traditional tongue and groove, end matched boards. It's a better product at a competitive price.
