Grip Guard Non-Slip Floor Treatment: GoodLife Fitness Centre Adelaide

Management at the GoodLife fitness centre in Glenelg had some concerns regarding the slip resistance of the floors in the facility's toilet and shower areas.

Grip Guard Floor Safety representative in Adelaide, Warwick Haseloff, visited the facility inspect the problem areas to carry out slip resistance testing. The slip resistance readings indicated that the floors, when wet, presented a slip and fall hazard.

Management purchased anti-slip mats to increase floor safety but found that they were not satisfactory as they quickly became dirty and slippery. The mats were removed and the areas of concern received a deep penetrating clean before being treated with Grip Guard non-slip floor safety treatment.

Management were very happy with the increased grip and the onsite cleaning staff remarked how much cleaner the floor was after the non-slip treatment. The treatment in the men's and women's showers improved floor safety by 50% (based on slip meter readings) and the dirty, slippery mats were thrown away.

In addition to the wet areas, management were concerned with the polished wooden sloping ramp leading to the aerobics area. Ramped areas are a common place for slip and fall accidents and require additional slip resistance to ensure pedestrian safety.
