Pacific Hoists Accredited to AS/NZS 4801 Occupational Health & Safety

Pacific Hoists is proud to announce that following a recent external audit, they are now operating an Occupational Health & Safety Management System which complies with the requirements of AS/NZS 4801:2001. This is a significant achievement which clearly demonstrates their commitment to business excellence.

AS/NZS 4801:2001 is used as the benchmark to assess Occupational Health & Safety Management systems for organisations. The protection of health and safety of all employees is vital to the success of every business. An effective OH&S Management System can help to establish the framework of compliance with the two fundamental elements of most OH&S legislation:

  • That employers provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and without risk
  • That employees take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others

In our continually changing workplace environment, the effective assessment and management of OH&S issues is therefore paramount.

Pacific Hoists recognised this need and underwent an extensive audit, conducted by SAI Global. This audit focused on the OH&S policies, procedures and objectives and how these are established, managed, executed and reviewed. Comments in the auditor's report for Pacific Hoists highlighted that the warehouse housekeeping and operations were excellent and that their risk management system was an advantage to the company.

According to Chairman & CEO Richard Crake, Pacific Hoists is clearly on the right track: "The investment in our state-of-the-art risk management system, based on ISO 3100, has positioned Pacific Hoists to achieve the highest levels of Corporate Governance, Occupational Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental standards. The aim is to lead in this area and continue to focus on business improvement, working towards ISO 14001. Now that we have obtained this standard of business; we are committed to further improve all aspects of our business and become the most successful Lifting Equipment supplier to the Australian market."
