NEWS ARTICLE ARCHIVESClassically Designed Staircase from Wrought Artworks![]() The design brief to Wrought Artworks for this four-story luxury home in Mossman was for a classically inspired minimalistic balustrade with each baluster individually embedded into the stone or timber flooring. Upper bushes and lower ferrules were hand-turned in bronze and patinated to a rich aged finish. Each was then manually burnished to create a textured finish and expose the warm bronze tones underneath the patina. The balusters were put through an eight-stage process to attain a rich organic "bankers bronze" finish. The wide American Oak handrail was rebated to accommodate the steel top rail. The newel posts were turned out of solid bronze and have four intermediary supports in line with the classical nature of the work. Life was brought into the geometric piece through beautiful curving transitions on corners.
