In a highly competitive industry there always seems to be someone else who will do it for less; where quality is compromised by cost and everyone wants it done yesterday. But what if you had a product that meant you could offer two services in one? Combining traditional plasterboard with rigid thermal insulation, the opportunity is created for plasterers to combine a service that typically required two trades.

No longer are plasterers reliant on another trade to get in, get the job done, and get out. They now have the chance to install a rigid thermal insulation simultaneously with plasterboard. Using an innovative lamination process the materials are bonded together to form a single board product that can be installed much like plasterboard.

Doug Lavender, an industry leader, plans to install this type of product in his own home renovation. When interviewed Doug explained that he had chosen to use this product particularly due to the space he was working in and the ease of installation.

"I required a product/system with a low profile thickness that wouldn't impact greatly on the ceiling height and that could be finished similar to the other ceilings which are plasterboard," Doug explained.

"After speaking with Paul I decided that DCT Thermalcheck™ Super was exactly what I required. DCT Thermalcheck™ Super can be installed directly over the existing ceiling without the need of 'height-reducing' battens and provides an additional R value of 1.19 for the 35mm product. It also has a plasterboard face - which means that it can be finished and painted as standard plasterboard."

Dynamic Composite Technologies Director, Paul Johnson, explained that this style of product has only recently made it to Australian shores despite being used in Europe for a number of decades.
