NEWS ARTICLE ARCHIVESBehind closed doors with Wonderful KitchensThanks to clever design there's more to this spectacular kitchen then first meets the eye. The owners' brief was quite simple, "they wanted an extremely efficient space with lots of hidden storage that was also warm and inviting," describes Wonderful Kitchens designer, Bev Kelly. And that's exactly what they got. A generous angled breakfast bar was built in the middle of the room, with the natural light spilling through the large high windows highlighting the tasteful Ice Stone Caesar Stone bench top and polished wood floors. Functional, yet stylish, the bar is a real space saver, boasting loads of bench area and storage. Considering this room is first to greet guests walking down the home's main staircase, a clean design was particularly important. The kitchen is remarkably clutter-free, with the ingenious design hiding cooking paraphernalia and other unsightly bits and pieces. Every last detail has been carefully considered, there are plenty of drawers for storage, Pale Parchment satin polyurethane and Cream Oak veneer cupboards hold most of the appliances, there's even a built-in custom-made cabinet for the bin and an office hidden behind bi-fold doors! With the kitchen both toaster and kettle-free, there's room for artful displays of fresh fruit, flowers, gourmet cookbooks. Most importantly, however, there's plenty of cooking and serving space so the owners' can comfortably host as many dinner parties as they wish. Free of distractions, they're able to concentrate on the more important tasks at hand, such as preparing hors d'oeuvres - or simply enjoying a leisurely breakfast in their stylish surroundings. The kitchen was designed by Bev Kelly and built by Wonderful Kitchens.
