NEWS ARTICLE ARCHIVESMaccaferri Rock GX Geogrids are ideally suited for use in segmental wall applications
They have been tested with the majority of the segmental block systems used in Australia, and are currently being approved by the NSW RTA and Qld Main Roads for use in their major road construction projects. Maccaferri Rock GX Geogrids interlock with granular soils, meaning anchor lengths can be shorter, reducing costs and reducing earthwork operations. Rock GX rolls are easy to handle and install, as they can be rolled out or folded, easily cut to the required length and has no sharp edges. When rolled out on-site, Rock GX rolls do not have a "memory", i.e. the rolls will stay where they are placed, whereas other products tend to roll back up and are more difficult to handle on-site. Maccaferri Rock GX Geogrids are supplied in rolls, with standard roll dimensions being 2.5m wide by 100m long, however non-standard sizes can also be supplied to meet special demands. Maccaferri Rock GX Geogrids are manufactured from high-tenacity polyester yarns and coated to provide additional durability. Maccaferri Rock GX Biaxial Geogrids are also available in standard 5.0m wide by 50m long rolls. They have equal strength in both the machine (or roll) and cross directions (standard grades include; 35kN/m, 55kN/m & 80kN/m). These grades are ideal for sub-base reinforcement under roads, as well as for reinforcement behind segmental block walls where the geogrid can be placed (or rolled) along the wall, reducing installation times by minimising geogrid cutting. A continuous length (with the max. roll width being 5.0m) of geogrid must still be installed behind the retaining wall for maximum load transfer. Maccaferri also provide additional tools and services to designers and installers of reinforced soil wall structures, including:
