Breezway louvre windows - calling the 'top end' home

A bank of louvre windows picks up the sea breeze to channel it into the home ensuring cooling breezes move through the house on even the stillest of hot summer days...

Queensland headquartered company Breezway is helping to bring airflow and light to Darwin homes and Darwin homes to life...

The world-wide market-leader for louvre windows for more than 50 years, Australian-owned and operated Breezway Louvre Windows have made their cache of über-chic louvres available in the Top End.

National Service Centre Manager Bill Cloumassis said louvre windows allowed Territorians to add aesthetic appeal to their home while creating a great connection with the outdoors.

"Windows are essential for allowing light and airflow - Breezway Altair™ louvres are a stylish window adding comfort and value to the home with numerous colour combinations and finishes including glass, aluminium and timber available," he said.

Located at Winnellie, the new Breezway Service Centre consists of a sales centre with a product display to offer local homeowners an opportunity to talk to a louvre expert and to view and touch the product.

Stocking louvre components and glass for quick order fulfillment, the centre offers local service and support to the Darwin region - providing technical support to specifiers (architects and building designers), builders and window fabricators.

Mr Cloumassis said extensive research and development was invested to ensure the latest range of louvres could withstand Darwin's extreme environmental conditions, particularly during the Wet and Cyclone seasons.

"Breezway Altair™ louvres have been tested to 7000Pa ultimate strength and up to 500Pa water penetration - more than twice the requirement set by the Building Code of Australia for louvres.

"The strength and durability of modern louvres means they can withstand cyclonic conditions such as fierce wind and monsoonal rainfall," he said.

The unique living hinge clip design pulls the clip tight against the channel when the window is closed, ensuring a tight seal.

Primary and secondary draining channels within the clips (and weather strip) also direct water to the outside of a building. The tight seal of the louvre window system keeps out both wind and water - making them ideal for Darwin's seasonal weather.

Featuring modern architectural lines, louvre's allow 100% airflow allowing natural cross ventilation during the balmy humid summer months.

Planit Architecture's Mason Cowle said his firm used Breezway Louvre Windows extensively in residential projects.

"Louvres give the best control of air flow and the greatest percentage of open area of any form of glazing.

"Modern louvres are proving a viable option for home-owners and renovators due to their environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, tight seals and security," he said.
