Rubber Flooring still at Customs House by Dalsouple

rubber flooring

Dalsouple rubber flooring was installed in the Customs Office in Hobart in their kitchen area in 1998. The flooring is still there after 12 years and looks like it could last another 12! Dalsouple has a guarantee of 10 years but expected to last 15 to 20 years. Dalsouple is a high end, high quality product that is expensive to start with, but well worth it in the long run. Designers need to think about the environment when planning for flooring and not just using a cheaper flooring which will need to be replaced in 5 years and end up as landfill.

Dalsouple rubber flooring is easy to maintain with a damp mop and neutral cleaner, and if a sealer/polish is used, then spray buffing about once a week depending on traffic. Good quality rubber flooring, as opposed to the open interstices of some recycled rubber flooring, is impervious to liquid and so a perfect floor to put in kitchens and bathrooms. Dalsouple makes 80 standard colours in over 35 textures but you can have almost any pantone colour!

The product for Customs in Hobart, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane was DalTex Omega (round domed dots) and Blue Marine (dark blue). The tiles come in 680mm x 680mm x 2.5mm (or thicker) and are butt jointed, with no heat welding needed. The rubber tiles can be coved up the walls or DalCove 75mm
