DESIGN FUTURES installation and NEW Outdoor Feature for 2012 announced

A captivating DESIGN FUTURES installation which reveals how designers will be seeing colour in 2013 and beyond will be unveiled when DECORATION + DESIGN returns to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 19-22 July 2012. Curated by DECORATION + DESIGN's very own trend forecaster Genty Marshall, whose past DESIGN FUTURES displays have attracted industry acclaim, the forthcoming feature will be called COLOUR VISIONS.

"The COLOUR VISIONS installation will reveal not only what we will be seeing in the future, but how we will be seeing it. From natural and inherent colour to the most sophisticated optical effects, designers are finding new ways for us to perceive and experience our spaces and the products we engage with," says Genty.

In the fourth edition of Australia's definitive trend platform, DESIGN FUTURES presents COLOUR VISIONS will reveal how designers are embracing science, technology and nature in a renewed fascination with colour and perception. The installation will provide an inspired look at the future of colour and explore how this will affect the way we live, interact, socialise and work.

"As we search for a more intense connection to the spaces we inhabit, designers are turning to colour not only as a means of expression but as a way to manipulate our physical and emotional experiences," says Genty.

Genty Marshall will also be giving a seminar on COLOUR VISIONS as part of the 2012 International Industry Seminar Series. Headlining the Series will be world renowned lighting designer, Beau McClellan (Portugal) who will be joined by international trend expert Milou Ket, of Milou Ket Styling and Design (Netherlands) and Chris Lefteri, of Chris Lefteri Design (United Kingdom). The complete International Industry Seminar Series line-up will be announced shortly.

In addition to the popular DESIGN FUTURES installation, DECORATION + DESIGN have also announced POP UP PARK, an exciting NEW Outdoor feature for 2012. Designed by renowned landscape designer, Wendy Clark of Dirtscape Dreaming and curated by Barbara Marshall, the inaugural forested park amidst the fair will offer an experience that potentially changes people's entire approach to interior design.

"We wanted to discover just how much park and forest can come indoors and offer a space for people to sit, meet and recognise that nature is the missing fabric in their lives," says Wendy.

POP UP PARK will explore a new way of living IN nature, rather than next to it. The highly anticipated new feature will reveal how to bring the luscious outdoors into the home and how this infusion of the outdoors makes an interior space feel.

Co-located with Furnitex, DECORATION + DESIGN is Australia's premier interiors event and brings together an unrivalled range of furnishings, interior products, outdoor decoration, artwork, homewares, objet d/arts, lighting and much more.
