Award winning expansion joints from Connolly Key Joint

Connolly Key Joint has won the prestigious award for "Best New Product" at Designbuild 2004.

The award was presented during the Designbuild expo held in Melbourne during late June. There were over 400 exhibitors present with many national and international companies among the competition.

In addition to the Best New Product award received at Designbuild, Connolly Key Joint also received a commendation award at the Northern Rivers Business Innovation Awards 2004, held at Southern Cross University in Lismore recently.

David Tyler, General Manager of Connolly Key Joint, said "It is very pleasing to have this product recognised for its innovation and commercial potential. Unlike the Designbuild award received recently, which was confined to products within the building industry, these awards were open to new products from all types of industries."

Mr Tyler said that their new expansion joint was conceived, designed and developed locally by their dedicated team of staff and is now being produced in their Casino factory for sale throughout Australia.

This award adds to the Australian Design award received previously for Connolly's key joint product. Mr Tyler said that export sales have also increased dramatically in recent months due to the successful acquisition of a distributor for their products in Canada and North America. "Following our success at Designbuild, companies in Malaysia, China and Singapore have also expressed interest in distributing our products" he continued.

Crack The Code Winner
The holder of the winning combination for the "Crack The Code" competition run at Designbuild did not come forth during the event. As a consolation prize all contestants that entered their code were put into a draw for a $50 cash prize. The winner of this draw was Ian Williams from Smorgon Steel Reinforcing at Shepparton. Congratulations Ian and thankyou to all those that visited our stand over the four days.

Keyed Joints Still Economical
Steel prices continue to rise due world steel production being unable to meet global demand. This has meant an increase to most steel based building products. Even though key joint products are made entirely from steel they are a fare more economical jointing method than joints formed using steel dowels held in position with wire cages. The greater amount of steel in dowelled joints has meant their cost has increased significantly in recent times.
