NEWS ARTICLE ARCHIVESKitchens by Wonderful KitchensStepped-back wall cabinets, stunning angles and excellent use of materials gives this kitchen from Wonderful Kitchens a dramatic effect. With a large space in which to work, designer Charles Case carefully considered the layout of this kitchen. The large, extended family who will be using this kitchen wanted plenty of storage and bench space for entertaining. Charles has obliged with a range of above-bench cupboards and under-bench drawers as well as glass-fronted display cabinets and a corner pantry. A dark veneer had been selected for the cabinets and it was important to Charles that it not make the kitchen look heavy. To counteract the rich colours, Charles has used glass inserts, white glass and stunning Calcutta marble for a fresh, light contrast. An interesting design feature is the stepped-back wall cabinets. As they approach the large window, the wall cabinets decrease in depth, allowing the maximum amount of natural light to stream through the space and providing the kitchens users with gorgeous river views. Visually impressive, the island bench acts as a natural barrier between the kitchen and adjacent living area. Its angled back, stunningly finished in Calcutta marble, adds interest and aesthetic appeal while the bar top provides the perfect landing place for canapes when entertaining. Finished with the latest stainless-steel, state-of-the-art appliances, the kitchen is built to take all this family can dish out. A range of ovens provides plenty of cooking options while clever design makes the work triangle highly effective, allowing more than one user to easily work within the space.
