Concrete masonry by Adbri Masonry - energy efficient building materials

Adbri Masonry's Architectural Masonry range is cool in summer and warm in winter without compromising architectural design.

Slowing down the loss of heat from a building in winter or reducing heat entering a building in summer, whilst at the same time minimizing energy consumption are key objectives when designing energy efficient buildings. That is why more architects are turning to concrete masonry. It is one of the very few building materials that can achieve both objectives. Not only is it a good thermal insulator, it also has excellent thermal mass.

Thermal mass slows down the rate of heat loss or gain when the temperature differential is high. Thus, concrete masonry slowly releases stored heat into the surrounding air during winter and absorbs heat from the air during summer. This heat bank effect reduces energy consumption when heating or cooling.

Generally, materials that are good thermal insulators are incapable of supporting heavy loads and conversely most good load supporting materials are poor insulators. Concrete Masonry is a notable exception and Adbri Masonry's Architectural Masonry provides smart building solutions with an architectural finish. All finishes offer an attractive appearance with minimal maintenance, high durability, high load bearing capacity, affordability, and most importantly, good acoustic and thermal performance.

Adbri Masonry's Architectural Masonry range includes Macquarie Stone, Sandhurst Stone, Pitched Stone or Smooth Stone with optional smooth or pitched cornerstones. Smooth Stone units can also be honed or shot-blast as in the Designer range.

The entire range is available in a wide selection of neutral colours including Adbri Masonry's hallmark 'Bondi Blend', a blend of pale cream and golden tones which mirrors the natural horizontal veining of sandstone.

Shown left and below are stunning examples of Macquarie Stone in Bondi Blend.

Shown left is an award winning residential development that has been constructed using Adbri Masonry's Sandhurst Stone for the dwellings and Honed blocks for the boundary walls.

Shown right is an internal fireplace constructed in Honed Designer Masonry. All the internal walls of this stunning house designed by acclaimed architect Bruce Rickard have been built in Adbri Masonry's Honed Designer Masonry whilst the external walls, shown below, have been built in Adbri Masonry's Smooth Stone.
