FLOORChef designs and "depth without having depth"

One of the standout features of FLOORChef's decorative designs is the amazing illusion of depth they conjure. In other words, they have the ability to generate "depth without having depth".

The reality of our systems is they're less than 1 millimetre thick, however that doesn't stop us from creating wild textures, rugged "hills and valleys" and deep cosmic swirls, for example. You can walk on a pristine ocean reef or even tip-toe over cascading molten rock. Watch our video presentation below to see a great example of this illusion on one of our "Sorbet" floors - it's truly spectacular.

What's the big deal about having depth in such thin films? Well besides looking the part, it means you can be a lot smarter about the lifecycle of floors. As the video explains, with some floors you have no choice but to rip them up and go again once they tire or you want a fresh look. This process can be slow, messy and obviously add extra expense to the project. In contrast, because our systems are so thin, you can simply go over an existing FLOORChef floor with another. It doesn't get any easier!
