Stone Paneling With or Without Pinning by StoneClip

stone panel pinning wall

The above project was done some 12 - 15 years back but you can see they used some rough and ready methods of securing the panels to the walls of the building . The project although done in the city of Fuzhou in Fujian provence of China is similar to a lot of projects done around the world . We even have buildings clad like this in George st Sydney and Coronation dr in Brisbane (centrally placed pin into the substrate) and they certainly detract from the effect the cladding material should give to the structure.

In the above case the panels are 600 mm x 600 mm x 30 mm Granite=30 kgs/ panel, a popular material and size.

For the first 3000mm high they used nothing except a cement based glue and they are drummy to touch. For how much longer they stay on the wall is in the lap of the gods .The panels above them are pinned in the middle with a carbon steel pin - the result is showing, a rusty patch that grows into the panel, looks awful.

This size panels can be erected on a building facade using the 8 mm adjustable (we supply fixings to whatever substrate you have), which will allow you install them at a cavity from 10mm - 45mm.

The installation cost is up to your installer or contractor, but you do not need an installer with 10 yrs experience, but a competent trades person who can read a level and use a drill and stringline, as after they install the first row the second row is done exactly the same.
