A new, low cost waterless toilet from Clivus Multrum is proving popular in Queensland. Self-contained, easy to install and requiring minimal maintenance, the CM2 is ideal for those needing a temporary toilet solution whilst building a house, for weekenders or as an affordable alternative to a drop toilet.

At $750, the CM2 comes complete with everything required for easy installation, including a white pedestal and seat, 12V fan and two composting chambers. It is suitable for full time use by up to 2 people or part time use by up to 4 people and the unit sits directly on the toilet room floor.

The CM2 uses the process of organic decomposition to break down waste into safe compost. Removal of the compost chambers is as easy as opening the toilet lid, removing the compost chamber and replacing it with an empty one. Once installed there is no need to disconnect anything because, unlike other low-cost waterless composting toilets, the CM2 pedestal remains in place with only the internal compost chamber changing. The CM2's capacity can be increased by introducing additional composting chambers.
