Glass Reinforced Polyester Drainage Channels in Gold Coast Hockey Centre by Hydro

Hydro Construction Products was commissioned to supply MEA Fluid from their comprehensive range of glass reinforced polyester drainage channels in the recent refurbishment of the Gold Coast Hockey Centre in Keith Hunt Park. In addition to MEA Fluid, the Australian-owned and operated company also provided units of galvanised steel slotted grate to complete the project.

The Gold Coast Hockey Centre: Project Background

The $16.5 million upgrade project of the Gold Coast Hockey Centre aims to deliver a world-class facility capable of hosting the hockey competition of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The improved facility features an all-new amenities to cater for elite training and competition, club and community usage. It houses a total of 500 permanent seating capacity, which expands temporarily to 5,000 seating capacity.

Hydro teamed up with Polytan Asia Pacific to deliver MEA Fluid glass reinforced polyester drainage channels to the Gold Coast Hockey Centre. The innovative drainage channels are designed with top-of-the-line materials suitable to use in a wide range of high-demand applications.

Using a combined polyester resin compound, mineral fillers, glass fibre mats, and additives, the team harnesses the sheet moulding compound (SMC) technology to achieve maximum strength and functionality.
