Product
Eldorado Stone: 350m2 of Country Rubble in a blend of 80%Tuscany and 20% Serrano. Contemporary authentic lookingstone walls were required for this exciting new resort developmentat Mount Hotham in Victoria.

The decision to use Eldorado Stone in such a prestigious andenvironmentally sensitive setting was one that was not takenlightly and incorporated many factors;

Thermal Insulation
The building was constructed with a polystyrene/reinforcedconcrete method of construction to provide the highest possiblestandard of thermal insulation. Eldorado stone with its lightweightand tested thermal qualities met this challenge without sacrificingthe usable internal space of the building.

Ease of installation
With a total installed depth of 50-60mm and the lightweightnature of the product, no additional engineering was required.

With certified Freeze/Thaw tolerance and the backing of a 50years Manufacturers Guarantee, AP Landscapes were confidentin the recommended installation method.

Natural Appearance
With the option of blending two Country Rubble colours together(Tuscany 80% and Serrano 20%), as well as the random texture,this allowed the architect to match the natural local stone to atee. His use of corners in the detailing makes even the mostdiehard sceptic a believer.

The project was not without its challenges, as due to unforeseencircumstances the last of the stone was laid as the first of the season'ssnowfalls came. With the experience and knowledge fromEldorado USA, we developed a method of installation which wasadopted on site for installation between -4ºC and 0ºC whichallowed for the construction to be completed for the start of the2006 ski season.
