It's all about Detailed Joinery, French Provincial by Wonderful Kitchens

When presented with a blank canvas and given instructions to create a Provincial-style kitchen, it's easy to see how many designers maybe tempted to go overboard with a host of ornate finishes. This was certainly not the case for this attractive kitchen. Known for tasteful,stylish creations, Wonderful Kitchens has allowed the fine features to speak for themselves, incorporating a delicate mix of fluted columns,rosettes and corbels into the design to frame selected areas.

Utilising his remarkable eye for detail, designer Richard Louch has crafted an open plan kitchen to complement the intended decor of the rest ofthe home renovations. Relocating the original kitchen from a small, cramped space to a more workable location was the first step in designing theowner's dream kitchen. The impeccable design choices continued from there.

The design centres on a charming, custom-built rangehood/mantel enclosure that - together with the stunning island bench - creates a distinct focalpoint.

Where this kitchen really excels, however, is in the discreet integration of appliances. When drafting the plans, it was essential that Richard makeallowances for all the usual appliances such as a wall-oven, refrigerator and pantry. With only one wall available for this purpose, it was essentialhe got the design perfect so as not to overpower the overall look of the kitchen. A small enclosed appliance zone was also built into the design tohide all the necessary items that would only detract from the kitchen's unique, classic appearance if left on show.

Wonderful Kitchens has successfully produced a cookhouse that functions at the height of efficiency yet still possesses all the charm and characterof a bygone era.
