Heating water the traditional way

Traditional storage tank-type centralised hot water services consume continuous energy to heat water and then maintain it at a defined - thermostat-controlled - temperature, ready for when it's wanted.

Typically, the water heater is located away from where the water is wanted, relying on lengths of reticulation pipe to deliver the water.

Up to 30% of the energy used is wasted keeping quite a large volume of water at a stable temperature - often at a higher temperature than would ever be used. Water is also wasted every time a hot water tap is turned on, because the water needs to run until the water held in the pipes has made way for the hot water coming from the water heater. The overall result is quite inefficient usage of power together with wastage of water.

The MicroHeat difference

The engineers at MicroHeat set out to create something completely different from existing methods of providing hot water: a highly efficient new technology for heating water that would address the wastage of valuable resources energy and water, and also significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Continuous Flow Electric Water Heater (CFEWH) intelligently "optimises" the amount of energy needed to heat water, depending on the flow of water required and the temperature of the incoming cold water.

The compact unit provides an instant and continuous flow of hot water at point of use, delivered through very short lengths of pipe. Water isn't wasted, because it's not left to run, waiting for it to get hot and it's always delivered at a stable temperature, despite any fluctuations in water pressure.

Benefits

  • Small footprint size for point of use installation
  • Easy and inexpensive to fit - only short pipe lengths required
  • Accurate and stable temperature control
  • Does not use a heat exchanger or heating elements
  • Significant reduction in water usage and "optimised" power consumption - water is only heated when needed
  • Very little energy used in standby mode - typically 300mW
  • No heat loss from a tank or lengths of reticulation pipes
  • Long and reliable service life - virtually maintenance-free
  • 3 Year Full Replacement Warranty (refer LWG/Hills Warranty Terms and Conditions)
  • No scaling or furring

Features

The Continuous Flow Electric Water Heater (CFEWH) is available as Premium and Standard models, both factory set to a maximum of 50°C - eliminating the need for tempering valves or thermostatic control valves*.

The Premium model allows adjustments to be made to the output water temperature and has displays for both water temperature and flow rate.

Two Continuous Flow Electric Water Heater (CFEWH) units can be used in tandem using single phase electrical supply to achieve flow rates equivalent to using three phase power, and delivering significant benefits from 100% "optimised" energy.

All models are Building Management System and Communications ready, facilitating two-way control and capture of all water and energy consumption data.

The Continuous Flow Electric Water Heater (CFEWH) has been created, developed, designed - and is manufactured - in Australia.

It is Watermark compliant and meets all Australian and NZ standards.
