Beneath a sewage treatment plant in Central Queensland, water contaminated with highly corrosive sulphuric acid had eaten its way through ten (10) submersible pumps, one after the other. It was time to find an alternative solution.

On the chopping block
Time is money, and the operators of a southeast Queensland abattoir found they were spending far too much of both clearing out solids from blocked wastewater treatment pumps. They needed to find a better way to handle the solids and get back to work.

A client was baffled to find the flowrate he was getting from his Sandpiper model HDB4 air operated double diaphragm pump was less than 30% of the expected flow at the specified head of 1.5 bars. A site investigation revealed the cause and provided a useful lesson.
