Building your deck is a great way to transform an outdoor area into your intimate entertainment space. Any skilled do-it-yourself enthusiast can construct a composite deck using some of the standard household tools.
INEX>MAXIDECK comes in a 5 x 120mm wide board panels that significantly reduces installation time by 20%, hence saving valuable time and resources.
With UBIQ INEX>MAXIDECK, installing your composite decking boards only takes four easy steps.
1. Before starting any home improvement projects, secure all necessary permits. Plan your decking design and tailor it to your specific needs. Ask yourself the following basic questions:
After determining the primary function of your deck, proceed on choosing the building materials for your joist and coating systems. It is best advised for joists to be away from the building and slightly fall in the direction of INEX>MAXIDECK decking boards to create a space for surface water to run off.
The composite decking boards must be stored dry, flat and covered in a well-ventilated area to avoid potential damages. For good practice, review the recommended application of your chosen coating company before proceeding with the coating. You should avoid coating when the temperature is below 10°C or in high humidity.
2. Using a brush, make sure to coat all edges - ends and the tongue & groove sides - of INEX>MAXIDECK composite decking boards before fixing.
3. Secure and seal the joints by applying a 6mm drop of INEX>BOND to each joist, while applying a 2mm to 3mm bead to the tongue and groove joints before fixing. The high quality, exterior grade, multi purpose, non-sag INEX>BOND is designed to seal INEX>MAXIDECK decking boards to timber or metal joists.
Your fixing process should include a pre-drilling and countersinking. Pre-drilling of 2mm to 3mm deep hole at the screw point reduces the risks of a surface blowout as a result of not exerting the correct pressure. Overdriving the screws might lead to construction cuts or chipping of the surface. You can fix the construction cuts by re-applying the coat on the chipped area before fixing.
INEX>MAXIDECK can be fitted in a square or staggered layout.
4. Careful application of coats and proper laying of composite decking boards will help you achieve your desired natural timber appearance. Subsequent coats should be applied within two weeks after installation. As a rule of thumb, avoid applying coat if temperatures are below 10°C or in high humidity.
Always check to see if INEX>MAXIDECK boards are clean, dust-free and dry before applying the coat. All screw heads must be sealed with subsequent coats to help prevent any moisture absorption. The composite decking boards might absorb moisture that can lead to slight discolouration which eventually fades as the decking boards dry out.
