The basic ingredients required to make concrete roof tiles are normal Portland cement, good quality sand and water. If you have access to these raw materials and use more than 2000 roof tiles per day, making your own roof tiles with a Globe Roof Tile Machine may be a great way to enhance your profitability.

For an operation to make around 10,000 tiles per day, an area of between 2 and 4 acres is required to accommodate the factory and office buildings, raw material storage, storage of finished product (4 to 5 weeks production) and access roadways.

The following list of consumable items should be used as a guide only, and each quantity listed is for the production of 1000 tiles:

• Portland cement for body of tile 1 tonne.
• Sand for body of tile 3.9 tonne.
• Bag cement for colour coat 100 kgs.
• Find sand for colour coat 50 kgs.
• Oxide for colour coat 10 kgs.
• Additive for colour coat 1.5 litres.
• Clear acrylic top coat (Solvent based) 10 litres or
• Clear acrylic top coat (water based) 8 litres.
• Mould release agent 7 litres.
• Wooden pallets (for final stacking) 3.1.
• End pegs (for final stacking) 4.
• Separator Boards (for final stacking) 8.

Recommended mobile equipment for a 10,000 tile per day operation includes:

• 1 Front End Loader (1 cu metre capacity).
• 2 Forklift trucks (3.5 tonne capacity).

The labour requirements of this operation will be approximately:

• 1 Experienced Plant foreman.
• 1 Machine operator.
• 1 Colour operator.
• 2 Wet rackers.
• 1 Dry deracker.
• 2 Tile stackers.
• 2 Forklift operators.
