Distinctive Homes Dome Shoots a Winner

Distinctive Homes Dome is the home of the Adelaide 36'ers and Adelaide Lightning basketball teams and for a long time has been in need of an upgraded PA system. Earlier this year saw the installation of a Renkus-Heinz speaker system to put the venue on the map as one of the front running basketball stadiums.

The system was installed by Harvey Norman Commercial with design assistance from Hills SVL's tech support in conjunction with Renkus-Heinz specialists. The aim was to develop a system to cover the whole arena with high quality, full-range audio for both music and speech. The new system easily meets this goal.

The system comprised of three main sections.

1. The centre cluster which was suspended below the centre scoreboard and consists of 8, STX7M 2 -way cabinets with 4, STX5L quad 12" sub cabinets and 2, TRX121 operating as court down-fills.

2. Two hangs of 5 elements of PNX102LA line array were suspended part way over the crowd to cover the upper tiers of the seats, and

3. A myriad of TRX82 and SGX81's for the corporate boxes

All were tuned and time aligned to negate room acoustics and to offer a coherent sound source within the stadium.

The system is powered by Lab.Gruppen FP10000Q and C28.4 amplifiers controlled by a MediaMatrix Nion N3.

The new owners of the facility have made a commitment to major upgrades of every area of the facility which will further enhance the venue's ability to host Major Events such as Trade Shows, Award Dinners, Product Launches and Family Shows.
