Automated Fire Rated Window System from Vento and WindowMaster

automated window system

Along with supplying natural ventilation and optimum airflow, WindowMaster the world's most intelligent window automation system, also delivers a fire safety and smoke ventilation solution.

Supplied exclusively to the Australian market by WindowMaster's certified partner Vento Australasia, the acclaimed Natural Ventilation™ (NV) system will also close automatically in case of fire. This function can assist in satisfying BCA (Building Code Australia) clauses C 3.11 and D1.7 for 'Protection of Openings'.

The NV technology was recently reviewed by Australian fire safety consultancy Defire which found the mode of operation can comply with the definition of automatic closing for cases where internal protection of openings is required.

Sam Rochaix, Vento's Sales and Marketing Director, says architects can now provide operable glazing where openings need protection such as where an apartment meets a corridor or an opening is less than three metres from the boundary.

"The definition of 'protection of openings' may often be quite onerous and compliance can result in unattractive or costly options such as fire screens" said Mr Rochaix.

"Natural Ventilation™ technology from WindowMaster can automatically close or open as required to suit the fire or smoke requirements of a building.

"This system will also negate the requirements to mechanically ventilate spaces for air flow which provides cost savings on ducting requirements and use of mechanical ventilation."

The NV Comfort™ system provides efficient automation with sensors constantly measuring internal air quality allowing windows to automatically open or close when necessary.

The system can also be linked to the Fire Information Panel (FIP) to close the window as soon as water flow to window drenchers is detected.

Vento's WindowMaster solutions can be used as a standalone system with its own battery backup, sensors and controls or can connect to a building management system (BMS) as necessary, says Mr Rochaix.

"The WindowMaster range provides a smart and flexible solution to fire protection and incorporates fire rated motors, switches and cables," he said.

"NV systems comply with the highest European Standards and their introduction to the Australasian market significantly increases the options for fire engineers and architects.

"WindowMaster can also provide a smart performance solution and in some cases a Deemed-to-Satify (DTS) solution."

Along with fire protection uses the system will constantly monitor internal air quality allowing windows to automatically open when there is a need for fresh air delivering optimum internal air quality and a comfortable indoor climate.

Optimised night cooling, pulse ventilation, trickle ventilation, pulse ventilation and a fresh air function are also features of the NV comfort™ system along with silent operation, simple installation and implementation.

Natural Ventilation™ from WindowMaster can be tailored for any application or building concept from atriums in small and medium sized buildings through to large commercial offices, schools, healthcare or other facilities seeking a low CO2 emission ventilation solution.
