Installation of Stone Panels from Stoneclip

stone panel installation

These photo's show the installation of stone panels on the soffits and side banding of an area overhanging a swimming pool on a project in Attadale in Perth.

The stone itself is a limestone 20 mm thick and in panel sizes of 800 mm x 400 mm and installed with a 10 mm cavity on the side panels and the soffit section.

The 6 mm adjustable Stoneclips were used as the principle supporting medium and an epoxy was also used to guard against STONE FATIGUE ,which can happen in some types of sedimentary and metamorphic stones with age.

The clips were installed as is visible in the first photo with the kerfs more to the front (UNDERSIDE) of the panel so as to help in stopping the fatigue if it does happen. The panels themselves weigh 17 kgs each and are held in place by 4 Stoneclips, which means that the load on each front disc is only approx 4.5 kgs and the 65 mm bases of the Stoneclips are held back with 2 drive pins in each which stop any bending of the plate.

The project itself was designed by Leon House from Perth and the stone was installed by Matter of Stone, stone masons under the eye of Matt Campbell (head mason).
