Dux Hot Water staff support Camp Quality

The generosity of workers at Dux Hot Water's manufacturing plant in Moss Vale, south-west of Sydney, is likely to raise more than $14,000 a year for children's charity Camp Quality.

Staff members have agreed to a small deduction from their weekly or monthly pay packets. Their contributions to the charity will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the company.

The donation program was instituted as a result of an approach to Dux factory management by a Camp Quality volunteer, Alan Ward.

Mr Ward - a union official for the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union in the Illawarra region, south of Sydney - approached some of the engineering businesses he dealt with professionally to elicit their support for Camp Quality.

"My eyes were really opened to what Camp Quality does when I volunteered to be a carer at one of their recreational camps," said Mr Ward.

Camp Quality is a non-profit organisation that helps children living with cancer, their families and communities through ongoing quality recreational, educational and financial support programs.

"I don't think you can get a better charity when it comes to kids," said Mr Ward.

Dux Hot Water operations manager Len Place says the enthusiasm for the charity shown by Alan Ward and regional Camp Quality organiser Ann Tanks was infectious.

"When they explained the activities and programs the charity undertakes for these unfortunate children, it was very inspiring and I'm proud to say our staff have responded generously," said Mr Place.
