BASIX & ABSA reports from Building & Energy Consultants Australia
BASIX is an on line program that assesses a house or unit design, and compares
it against water, thermal comfort and energy targets. The design must meet these targets before
a BASIX certificate can be issued. Every development application for a new home must be submitted
to Council with a BASIX certificate. The BASIX target varies according to building type and location.
Ways to meet Thermal Comfort Targets
The best way to meet thermal comfort target is to engage an accredited assessor. Your assessor will
simulate your dwellings thermal performance and provide you with an ABSA certificate. Our accredited
ABSA assessors produce house energy rating reports using Nathers or second generation software Accurate
and BERS ensuring that they are affordable and buildable.
Ways to meet Energy Targets
- Cooling/Heating Reverse cycle air conditioning with the highest star rating or EER.
- Install florescent lighting in as many rooms as possible.
- Hot Water System Solar gas boosted or Gas instantaneous with a high star rating.
- Gas cook top and gas oven.
- Install a timer to control your pool pump.
- White goods appliances with a high star rating energy rating.
Ways to meet Water Targets
Select water efficient fixtures, the more stars a water has the greater the efficiency. All
rated products are available to view at the Water Efficiency Web site www.waterrating.gov.au.
Rainwater tanks so rainwater can be collected from roof areas and used for garden, laundry
and toilet flushing
