Dust control suppressants from Soilbond


Soilbond® is an excellent dust suppressant solution. Trials have shown that Soilbond® compared to traditional watering practices has reduced water consumption by as much as 79%. Soilbond® binds the fine particles of soil to form a cohesive surface crust. With on going applications, the crust is maintained to overcome surface wear due to traffic.

As Soilbond® has a cumulative effect, each maintenance application adds to the existing crust. Hence, the maintenance application frequency will be reduced overtime and the time between maintenance applications will increase. This cumulative effect also allows the rate of Soilbond® maintenance applications to be reduced over longer periods.

Soilbond® dust suppressant is a spray on, environmentally safe, water-based organic emulsion. It provides cost-effective dust control performance and significant water consumption reduction when incorporated in a dust control program made of on-going applications

Dust Control Trial Report
The trial aimed at demonstrating Soilbond dust suppressant performance under conditions of high frequency heavy vehicular traffic. For the trial, 400kg of Soilbond dust suppressant was supplied and sprayed according to Soilbond's protocol, over a total area of 6000m², with a water cart provided by Soilbond's contractor. During the nine weeks trail period, an average of 200 B-double trucks travelled per lane per day on the road. The treatment provided excellent result in terms of dust control and cost effectiveness. We estimated that the Soilbond dust control treatment have saved costs by 17% and water by 79% compared to traditional watering practices. For and on-going Soilbond dust control program, the savings would work out to be at least 50% of the regular watering practices, with efficiency gain in time as the product builds up on the surface.
