Kelair's Building and Fire Division delivers on major inner city project

When Kelair was approached to help with the design of the hydraulic services on a major inner city building project, forward thinking was required.

With ten levels of underground car park and retail sections, and excavation 40 metres below street level, the infrastructure of the whole building had to be taken into consideration from the very beginning.

Due to the size of the site there are many drainage points where the sewage and stormwater has to be collected before being pumped away.

For ease of installation and lasting strength, Kelair supplied a total of ten fibreglass pump stations to be installed at various locations. The pump stations had to be designed, built and delivered in time to keep up with the hectic construction schedule.

In close consultation with the client, Kelair decided to offer fibreglass pump stations for a variety of reasons.

The fibreglass pump stations are light weight and require no ongoing maintenance, and come as a complete package which was a major incentive.

Further, all fittings including inlets, outlets and vents, were installed prior to delivery. Each fitting was installed at the exact location and depth the customer required.

The pump stations were designed to accept either sewage or storm water. They were fitted with internal pipework, guide rails and heavy-duty gas-tight lids. Although the pumps them-selves were not required at this stage, guide rails were fitted to ease installation of the pumps when they are required.

The building is now well under way with all pump stations installed. Although there was a tight delivery schedule Kelair was able to meet this.
