NEWS ARTICLE ARCHIVESAffordable R&D Thermal Imaging Packs from Flir Systems![]() FLIR Systems introduces extremely affordable SC35, SC15 and SC5 Packs for R&D applications. Thermal imaging cameras can be used for a wide variety of R&D applications. Until today using a thermal imaging camera was often the privilege for large R&D departments. With the extremely affordable SC35, SC15 and SC5 Packs, FLIR Systems is now bringing the advantages of thermal imaging to the test bench of every R&D engineer. The FLIR SC35, SC15 and SC5 Packs are not only extremely affordable. They contain both the hardware and software for analyzing and verifying your R&D projects. With the FLIR SC35, SC15 and SC5 Packs you will be able to visualize temperature and to measure temperatures in a non-contact mode.![]() Furthermore, each Pack contains a hard case, goose neck with foot and 2 cable straps, 2 Ethernet cables, base mount, focusing tool, PoE injector, and a power cable. FLIR Axx sc Series thermal imaging camera: compact and complete The Axx sc Series thermal imaging cameras visualize temperatures between -40°C and +550°C. Temperature differences as small as 50 mK become clearly visible on a crisp thermal image. Since the FLIR Axx sc Series comes with Power over Ethernet, communication and power are supplied with only one cable. Connection interfaces The FLIR Axx sc Series comes standard with GigE Vision™ compatibility. GigE Vision is a new camera interface standard developed using the Gigabit Ethernet communication protocol. GenIcam™ support is also provided. The goal of GenICam is to provide a generic programming interface for all types of cameras. Regardless of interface technology (GigE Vision, Camera Link, 1394 DCAM, etc.) or features implemented, the Application Programming Interface (API) will always be the same. It is also possible to configure one camera to be master and others to be slave(s) for applications that call for more than one camera to cover the object or for stereoscopic applications. Software included in the SC35, SC15 and SC5 Packs FLIR Systems realizes that in an R&D environment a thermal imaging camera is just one part of the solution. Software to analyze the thermal image is equally important. FLIR Tools+ software is included with every SC35, SC15 and SC5 Pack. The FLIR Axx sc Series thermal imaging cameras work seamlessly together with FLIR Tools+. It allows for viewing, recording and analyzing thermal images and includes functions such as time versus temperature plots. About thermal imaging Thermal imaging is the use of cameras constructed with specialty sensors that "see" thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal, or infrared energy, is light that is not visible to the human eye because its wavelength is too long to be detected. It's the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat. Infrared allows us to see what our eyes cannot. Thermal imaging cameras produce images of invisible infrared or "heat" radiation. Based on temperature differences between objects, thermal imaging produces a clear image. It is an excellent tool for predictive maintenance, building inspections, research & development and automation applications. It can see in total darkness, in the darkest of nights, through fog, in the far distance, through smoke. It is also used for security and surveillance, maritime, automotive, firefighting and many other applications. About FLIR Systems FLIR Systems is the world leader in the design and manufacturing of thermal imaging cameras for a wide variety of applications. It has over 50 years of experience and thousands of thermal imaging cameras currently in use worldwide for predictive maintenance, building inspections, research & development, security and surveillance, maritime, automotive and other night-vision applications. FLIR Systems has eight manufacturing plants located in the USA (Portland, Boston, Santa Barbara and Bozeman), Stockholm, Sweden, Talinn, Estonia and near Paris, France. It operates offices in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Dubai, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, UK and the USA. The company has over 4,000 dedicated infrared specialists, and serves international markets through an international distributor network providing local sales and support functions.
