Block Restraint Stoneclip from StoneClip

stone clips block restraint

Stoneclip are just releasing their new Block Restraint Stoneclip.

The clip itself is made of SS and the shaft is 90mm long x 8mm threaded rod and the front and rear disc are 2mm thick. The clip is the same plate thickness as the 8mm x 70mm adjustable Stoneclip, but has no adjustment built into it. The main purpose is for stabilizing block of stone or bricks (100mm - 110mm wide) that are laid in a veneer situation where a cavity of 32mm - 40mm is required.

The clips come supplied with 2 x 6mm x 60mm screw drive pins, which are effective in wood ,concrete or masonry substrates. The reason for the threaded shaft is that water and moisture cannot be transferred across the shaft if it is installed level or slightly tilting outwards. This clip also incorporates the new base plate which is dinted larger in the centre to stop distorsion when welding the shaft onto it.

The reason for this Stoneclip came from requests from the agents in New Zealand who are being pressed for methods to restrain block and stonework in the Shaky Isles. The 6mm screw drive pins cannot be removed when installed and are far superior to the expanding drive pin and Through bolt as they grip the hole from front to back and not just where the bulb of the through bolts expand when thightned. These fixings are going to become the standard across the range from 15mm to the 10mm adjustable sizes.

The costing of the new Restraint Stoneclip is the same as the 8mm Midrail adjustable. They will be available in New Zealand from the 2 week in December 2012 and at the start of January 2013 in Australia.
