Our slimline system will not obstruct your view. They are easy to clean and maintain and come with a 6.38mm laminated safety glass as standard, and with 100's of colours to choose from it's a must for new home owners or renovation projects with a budget. The horizontal slider is undoubtedly the most frequently used type of secondary glazing. Its uses are therefore widespread, being applied to high rise or low-level commercial properties, historic buildings as well as all kinds of domestic dwellings. Our systems provide sensitive solutions to the problems created by noise and sound pollution. How it Works Generally available in two, three or four panelled versions, the sashes are fitted with rollers, ensuring the smoothest sliding action. Twin brush seals provide excellent high sealing efficiency. This has been scientifically proven to eliminate draughts, increase thermal insulation. HOW WILL IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE? The average household could save around two tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) a year by making their home energy efficient. Professionally installed secondary glazing will save you money on your cooling and heating bills, and cut your CO2 emissions by up to half a tonne - not as impressive as the 740kg a year double glazing could save, but exactly one hundred times more CO2 than avoiding plastic bags for a year. Make sure the gap between the secondary glazing and the original window pane is at least 40mm and you can screen out noisy neighbours too and it can reduce condensation. WHAT IS SECONDARY GLAZING? The units are tailor made to match the existing window to form a double window or 'Double Glazing'. The existing windows remain unaltered and in most cases, curtains or blinds are unaffected. Secondary glazing is designed to reduce noise and cut cooling costs by adding another window inside your existing external windows. It is easy to fit and is cost effective and is very popular in high rise apartments where the existing external windows cannot be changed. SECONDARY GLAZING IS APPROPRIATE FOR Buildings in a noisy location. Busy roads, airports, train lines and where your existing windows are draughty. Buildings in which alternatives such as replacement windows cannot be considered, particularly listed properties or high rises with strict body corporate control. Internal secondary double glazing can be a cost effective solution if the main window is essentially sound and in good condition but there is a requirement to improve thermal and/or noise insulation. SECONDARY GLAZING PROVIDES... Noise ProtectionSecondary glazing is a system that allows you to keep your existing windows and fit the secondary glazing to the inside. This gives you a very good insulating air gap between the two panes, therefore reducing noise significantly. Specialist glass is especially effective against road, aircraft, and rail & in fact any type of noise. Heat Resistance With secondary glazing installed it also gives you a very effective thermal barrier that helps reduce your heat gain during the summer and minimises heat loss in the winter. Protect Carpets & Soft Furnishings With 6.38mm laminated glass as standard this gives you a 94% UV block, which allows all natural light into the room without fading your carpets and furnishings. Cost Installing secondary glazing is much cheaper than replacing windows. Security Standard secondary glazing adds considerably to security - it can only be opened from inside - the addition of toughened or laminated glass & additional locks will further Increase window & door security. Dust & Rattles Because the Internal secondary glazing is fully sealed there is very little air movement within the cavity, thereby virtually eliminating the ingress of dust & cutting out any rattling of the primary window. Draughts No more draughts from windows and doors once they have been fitted with secondary glazing!
