Waterco unveils Supatuf ECO

International swimming pool and water treatment specialist Waterco Ltd has bolstered its energy efficient pump range with the addition of the 7 star energy-rated Supatuf ECO 100 3-speed pump.

The Supatuf ECO is ideal for large domestic swimming pools with ancillary systems such as heating, in-floor cleaning, fountains, vacuum cleaning and swimjets - and there's a clear focus on saving energy.

"As a pool's filtration cycle occupies 99 per cent of the run time of a pool pump, you can operate the Supatuf ECO on its low speed setting for the majority of its running time, leading to significant energy savings," explains George Flory, Waterco's domestic water care product manager. "By using the Supatuf ECO you can slash energy use by up to 70 per cent - and that can mean hundreds of dollars off your electricity bill.

"Pool filtration does not require to be operated at a pump's maximum water flow rate. In fact, your pool's filtration efficiency improves at lower flow rates.

"In addition, lowering a pump's flow rate not only significantly decreases the pump's energy requirements, but also reduces water flow resistance in your pool equipment and plumbing. Plus your automatic chemical dosers and salt chlorinators are more effective when the pool water is circulated longer."

The Supatuf ECO is also super quiet - just 66 decibels - which means it can be operated at night during cost-effective, off peak electricity tariff periods, without upsetting the neighbours.

Being compact, the Supatuf ECO is also very versatile. It can be retrofitted into tight situations and can easily be plumbed to 40mm or 50mm pipework.

And the Supatuf ECO is weather proof, corrosion resistant and incorporates a secondary seal for extra protection of the pump motor.

Supatuf ECO's 3 speed options include:

- Low (ECO)*: Filtration (99 per cent of the time) Most economical speed for the purpose of operating the pool's filtration system without any ancillary pool equipment attached to the recirculation system - e.g. suction cleaners

- Medium: Automatic pool cleaners This speed will enable the operation of additional pool equipment for pool cleaning functions that require the use of suction cleaners and low pressure spa jets

- High: Vacuuming and backwash (one per cent of the time) Power speed selection for use with backwashing granular media filters (e.g. sand filters), manual pool vacuuming and operating pool equipment with high water pressure requirements (e.g. water features and spa jets)

Other features of Waterco's Supatuf Eco include:

- Ultra quiet: It operates most economically and with the lowest noise level at its low speed setting. This setting significantly reduces the pump's vibration, motor noise and water turbulence to an ultra low 66 decibels (dBA)

- Off peak operation: Its low noise levels enable it to be operated at times that are now allowable for conventional pool pumps. A Supatuf ECO enables pool owners to take advantage of off-peak electrical tariff periods, without upsetting neighbours

- Pump start up: The Supatuf ECO multi speed pump is designed to operate on speed setting 'High' when the pump is first turned on. This ensures the pump is properly primed and adequate flow through the pool's filtration and recirculation system. The high speed start up will operate for two minutes then switch to the pre-selected speed setting

- Secondary seal: Unique to the market, the secondary seal is situated between the pump wet and the pump motor. It forms a seal around the motor shaft to prevent water from running out along the shaft of the motor. Thus it protects the pump motor's end shield from any water contact.

*specifically designed to operate a standard pool filtration and recirculation system.
