Designbuild 2006 will be staged at The Melbourne Exhibition Centre for trade only 28 – 31 May 2006.

Designbuild has the enviable reputation of showcasing the very latest ideas and products for professionals from the building and design industries and this year will be no exception," said Bill Hare Exhibition Director. "Once again it will be the 'must see' event for the building and design industries to review products and ideas from 400 exhibitors and 18 countries, refresh thinking, replenish knowledge, and renew contacts and suppliers". There is a strong educational component at this year's show with Free Architectural and Building Seminars in a purpose-built theatre on the show floor. Speakers include some of Australia's leading designers, architects and specialist suppliers - Tone Wheeler, Annabelle Bradbury, Kerstin Thompson, Lucinda McLean, Peter Malatt, Carey Lyon, Simon Knott, David Oppenheim, Glenn Plymin, Adrian Fitzgerald, Rod McGauran, Paul Katsieris, Jane Williams, Rodney Stephens, David Hallett and Nicholas Burnham.
Designbuild 2006 will also host concurrent industry shows -The National Plumbing Show, Tilex, Frame Australia, Smart Home Expo, and display special product feature areas and concurrent industry seminars and training programs run by The Master Plumbers & Mechanical Services Association, The National Precast Concrete Association and The Official Tilex Tile & Stone Conference.

The Best New Product Award 2006
The Best New Product Award rewards and celebrates high quality architectural and interior design products available to specifiers. The aim of the award is to encourage innovation as well as the development and improvement of products available for use in architectural projects.
To be eligible for the 2006 award, products must be on display in Melbourne at Designbuild Australia 2006 and have been released during the previous 12 months. The award will again be judged by leading members of the architecture and design profession, and the winner will be announced at Designbuild Australia.
In 2005, Reckli Australia won the award for Reckli Vectogramm formliners, while special commendations were awarded to Nanotec for the Nanoprotect CS concrete treatment and Trend Tile for Kerlite lightweight porcelain sheets. The two other finalists were The Fire Company for the EcoSmart Fire 360 and Valchromat through-coloured fibreboard.
Other previous winners include Lorient Australia for the Integrity IS9070 Finger Guard (2002), Hi-Light Industries for the Daylighting Louvre System (developed in conjunction with Bligh Voller Nield Architects, 2003) and Connolly Key Joint for the Expansion Joint system for continuous concrete pouring (2004). The award is jointly sponsored by Architectural Product News, Selector.com and Designbuild Australia. The winner receives coverage in the August/September 2006 issue of Architectural Product News, promotion through Selector.com and a commemorative plaque.
