In a triumphant tale of community resilience, the Chadstone Bowls Club overcame eviction threats in 2017 to celebrate the unveiling of their bespoke Chadstone Bowls Club Canopy at the Stonnington Sports Centre in October 2023.

Crafted by MakMax, the canopy, inspired by the Moama Bowling Canopy, boasts unique features, including a floating slab installation- the first of its kind for MakMax-positioned above a newly constructed car park. Designed to shield against afternoon sun and rain, the structure incorporates vertical infill panels on open-arched ends and a full 360-degree horizontal skirt awning.

The dome canopy is based on the Tensosport-MAX Hawksbill roof design chosen and coated with PTFE tensile membrane, chosen for its durability, weather resistance, and low maintenance, the Chadstone Bowls Club Canopy is a testament to MakMax's design ingenuity.

MakMax collaborated with ADCO, the head contractor, who worked to deliver the City of Stonnington's masterplan, ensuring the success of the Percy Treyvaud Memorial Park multi-sport centre project. From the edge of eviction to a symbol of triumph, the Chadstone Bowls Club stands proudly within the Stonnington Sports Centre, embodying the power of community unity and resilience.
