Master Builders Association Australia launched the third edition of their National Code of Practice

Mr Wilhelm Harnisch, Chief Executive, said, "The launch of the third edition of the National Code of Practice demonstrates Master Builders' public commitment to doing the right thing.

"It is a level of ethical conduct that distinguishes members of Master Builders from other industry associations.

"The Code of Practice commits our members to deal fairly with clients."

The first edition of the code was released in 1994.

The Code of Practice was officially launched by Mr John Martin, Commissioner for Small Business, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Mr Harnisch said, "One of the key features of the Code is the confidence it gives clients in dealing with disputes.

"That confidence is reinforced by the appointment of an independent chair to Master Builders national disputes panel.

"Master Builders is pleased to have as independent chair Mr Greg Brackenreg, an eminent lawyer from the Australian Capital Territory.

"Mr Brackenreg was nominated by the Law Council of Australia as a suitable candidate for the position of independent chair."

The Code is publicly available and can be accessed on Master Builders Australia website, www.masterbuilders.com.au.
