Australia Pacific LNG Project from EJ

lng project coal seam gas

The Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) is a CSG to LNG joint venture partnership between Origin, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec. The project is currently worth US$20 billion.

Coal Seam Gas (CSG) is natural gas found in coal deposits. Coal seam gas is used in the same way as any other form of natural gas for cooking and heating as well as in industrial processes and electricity generation.

CSG is then processed and cooled to form a liquefied natural gas(LNG). The reason it is transformed to a liquid form is to make it easier to transport for export.

The Queensland APLNG Project consists of three key parts:

1. Development of Australia Pacific LNG's gas fields in the Surat and Bowen Basins in south-west and central Queensland.

2. Construction of a 520km gas pipeline from the gas fields to an LNG facility on Curtis Island; off the coast of Gladstone.

3. An LNG facility on Curtis Island, with the first two gas production trains 'processing units' converting up to 9 million tonnes per annum.

The Brisbane staff of EJ have been working closely with the consulting engineers to offer world class solutions for access covers.

Our Queensland Sales Manager, Ian Maddocks, reports that the engineers were very impressed at the design of French cast products; especially the hinged Brio covers for its ease of operation.

The Brio has been specified on the engineering drawings and the clients have taken up the offer to brand their covers to suit the project.

"Discussions with our EJ foundry and design staff in France, ensured the concepts were possible and we have now offered covers the a large letter 'G' to signify gas along with the prime operators name 'Origin' and the specific project name 'APLNG'". "By working together with our international teams, we were able to quickly demonstrate what we could do for the client," said Ian. "And we could be very confident in our presentation because we already knew of the high service and quality standards from our world class French foundry."

The project is expected to require over 1,000 of the specially badged Brio covers.

The Brisbane team have just secured their first part of the order. The Australian construction giant, Leighton Contractors, have ordered their first 400 covers.
