Innovative new generation covers a pacesetter Composite Covers by EJ

Having surveyed a number of our clients about the performance of our products in the field, a perfect opportunity was identified to develop composite covers for the Australian market.

The need was for lighter weight covers that could be locked and hinged, replacing the old style metal covers that often accidently dropped into service pits causing chaotic damage. So EJ developed a specialised range of composite covers for the petroleum, telecoms, electrical, sewer and stormwater industries.

They are light weight but are also extremely robust, having been engineered and manufactured to meet the same loading requirements of cast ductile iron covers.

Presently, the covers are designed for Class B (80kN) load ratings commonly used on footpaths and similar areas which are accessible to lighter vehicles (excluding commercial vehicles) moving at slow speeds. Another range of covers is being tested to meet Class C for use in malls and areas open to commercial vehicles moving at low speeds.

To progress the use of composite covers in Australia we have appointed an engineer whose energies are dedicated solely to these materials and their potential further applications.
