Low Surface Tension Waterproofing with SEALTAQ® Universal Band from Neoferma

SEALTAQ® is a low surface tension waterproofing solutions by sealant technology experts, STOPAQ. As the industry leader in waterproofing, Neoferma has struck up a partnership with the Holland-based company to bring SEALTAQ® to the building sector in Australia. Among the most in-demand products from the Neoferma line-up is SEALTAQ® Universal Band.
Introducing SEALTAQ® Universal Band
SEALTAQ® Universal Band is a one-of-a-kind patch coating solution composed of pure polymers. The chemical makeup of SEALTAQ® Universal Band is amorphous and non-crosslinked, achieving impermeability for low surface tension waterproofing. The material also consists of nonpolar molecules for <0.03% water absorption properties. In action, SEALTAQ® Universal Band provides 100% water resistance, combatting osmosis, water ingress, corrosion and air tightness across a wide range of structural applications.
Some of the common applications of SEALTAQ® Universal Band include protection of concrete or steel substrates, including irregularly shaped structural steel; sealing of all types of expansion joints between different substrates, such as HDPE plastics, concrete, masonry, wood and steel plates; sealing of all kinds of pipe or cable connections; and waterproofing of structural joints, pipework, gutters, chimneys and damaged roofs.

Applying SEALTAQ® Universal Band
SEALTAQ® Universal Band exhibits controlled cold flow and viscosity that allows it to flow into the smallest nooks and crannies of the substrate - no curing needed. Once applied, SEALTAQ® Universal Band delivers excellent and long lasting performance with high resilience and durability suitable for low surface tension waterproofing.
SEALTAQ® Universal Band can be applied in a humid atmosphere at temperatures of -45°C to 70°C. Meanwhile, the temperature of the surface must be at least 3°C above the dew point and dry.
Here is a brief how-to on applying the SEALTAQ® Universal Band:
- Prepare the substrate. The surface must be clean, dry, sound, and free from dust, oil, grease, and other contaminants. These foreign matters are considered bondage breakers during application.
- In the event that it is being applied to wet concrete. Then Sealtaq CSP (Concrete Sealing Primer) should be used. CSP is a high viscous paste which is easy to smear onto wet and moist substrates to make application of Sealtaq possible in wet conditions.
- Remove and adhere. The release liner must be removed just before applying SEALTAQ® Universal Band to prevent contamination of the adhesive surface of the product, and premature adhesion to the surface. Once the small part of the release liner is removed, the pre-cut SEALTAQ® Universal Band will be put on the surface. This removal process must be continued with immediate adhesion thereafter. Slight tensioning is not allowed, except for wrapping applications around tubular structures.
- Overlap patches. The pre-cut material can be overlapped in the application when the substrate is perfectly flat. If not, a minimum side by side overlap of 10 mm is required.
- UV Protection. For UV protection either Sealtaq Construction Seal Band should be used or a protective coating of Elastoclad Coating System is recommended after the application is complete.
SEALTAQ® Universal band has a life expectancy in excess of 30 years when installed to specification and protected. Product should be stored indoors, away from direct sunlight in a place between 18°C to 30°C. It has an unlimited shelf life.
