Easier Ordering Follows Upgrades In Classification of EJ Galv Grates

The system of rating and naming galvanised sump and trench grates used an outmoded British coding of Light, Heavy and Extra Heavy; the codes typically were M66L, M66H and M66XH.

But here in the antipodes, we use a more intuitive system based on Australian Standard AS3996 for all manhole covers and grates more sensibly measured against load ratings.

For more clarity and to ensure that our clients are fully aware of what they are specifying or buying for their appropriate application, we have upgraded our galvanised mild steel grating codes and descriptions to more accurately reflect the AS3996 load classes.

What was the M66L is now coded as M66A for Class A applications. M66H translates to the M66B for Class B. And the M66XH becomes M66D for Class D applications.

In our sump grate range, we've introduced a Class C category which is proving popular in Victoria but could be suitable for anywhere in Australia-Pacific.

In the footsteps of these changes, our HEELPROOF™ grates and trench grates will follow the same classifications, the aim being to provide an easier to select, specify and order the best grate for a specific application.

If you need more info on the upgraded classification system, please contact your nearest EJ branch or call 07 3216 5000.
