Located at Jalan Taman in Singapore, this recently completed luxury condominium by Hoi Hup Realty Group employed a bold and daring swimming pool design. Suspended in mid-air between two apartment towers, the correct choice of waterproofing system for this structure was critical.

Membrane waterproofing was not considered suitable or practical since the pool structure, spanning between the two towers at 9 storeys height, could not afford to use a waterproofing system which is limited by its material life span and the need for periodic maintenance and/or replacement. A permanent solution which allowed easy rectification of any installation defects, and with subsequent maintenance-free service-life, was required.  

THE SOLUTION: Working with the Clients' consultants during design stage, Cementaid proposed the use of the EVERDRUE CALTITE System Hydrophobic Pore-blocking Ingredient (HPI), as the optimum method to satisfy the pool's crucial performance requirements.

The unique Hydrophobic MatrixT & pore-blocking action provided by CALTITE ensures that the concrete remains permanently non-absorptive / hydrophobic & impervious to water and contained salts for design-life.

Prior to casting, all pipe and service penetrations through the waterproof CALTITE concrete were simply and effectively sealed using a proven hydrophilic-type waterstop, wrapped around each of the penetrations and cast-in with the concrete. Re-injectable grout hose was also installed to all construction joints.  

After construction, the grout hose was injected with hydrophilic acrylic grout by Cementaid personnel, providing a 100% effective seal to all construction joints.  To confirm that the waterproofing system was effective, the 1.2m deep swimming pool was water-filled and left for 1 month before cladding and finishes were applied.
