The innovative "DeskGlue" technology has been installed by Allplastics Engineering in Sydney. The company is one of the first few to have embraced this cost effective technique developed in Europe.

Raffi Kalloghlian, Allplastics Engineering's Production Manager is excited about the applications and benefits of this world class technology. "DeskGlue technology will allow our fabrication team to glue PMMA acrylic (Perspex™, Plexiglas®) without any preparations" he added "this will mean more efficient production results that are easily accomplished and perfectly replicable".

Traditional glues have never allowed for replicable technology, since they are based only on the glue's characteristics and therefore on the technical expertise of the operator. They do not allow for consistent serial production. It should be noted that this technology provides a bond strength equal to or exceeding the current glues.

The Allplastics fabrication team attended a comprehensive training course conducted by the representative of DeskGlue technology from Italy Mr. Giora Lupi. Staff members were awarded certificates on completion. Managing director of Allplastics Vic Kalloghlian sees many benefits in the new technology, "Museum showcases, high gloss acrylic furniture, Point Of Sale displays, light fixture and artworks which required a bubble free glue finish were always subject to theoperator's expertise" he added. "The DeskGlue Technology will allow us to make these in a more consistent and cost effective way".

Vic Kalloghlian also sees the sustainability value of the DeskGlue innovation as traditional glues require very high expertise and concentration in the production process, a requirement that often translates in a waste percentage close to 20%.

"The new technology means less rejects and consequently savings of valuable polymers, as well as a superior end result to our customers". This is especially significant when gluing or laminating thick blocks of acrylic (100 - 150 mm) as well as solid bars and tubes. Allplastics Engineering has been a major player in the plastics fabricating industry in Australia for the last 20 years. Its production capabilities include precision CNC machining and routing, fabrication, diamond edge polishing, moulding, thermoforming of architectural, building and engineering plastics.
