EJ Hosts AHSCA QLD Hydraulic Consultants at Brendale FactoryOn May 10, 2023, EJ played host to the AHSCA QLD Hydraulic Consultants at their Brendale factory, with a focus on the new Australian Standard, the EJ test facilities, innovative new products and (most importantly) delicious barbecue. The attendees also took part in a draw and had the chance to win a range of prizes, with the grand prize, a Weber Q 1200 grill, adding excitement to the insightful evening. The event featured a detailed discussion and commentary on the new AS3996:2019 standards by EJ Australia director Simon Bottomley and project manager Tom McErlean. The AS3996 guideline (a technical standard developed by Standards Australia) provides guidelines and specifications for the design, installation, and maintenance of access covers and grates used in various applications.
The discussion examined the requirements for materials, load ratings, structural integrity and the testing and certification guidelines required to ensure compliance. Knowledge of the AS3996 guidelines is essential when planning infrastructure and the imparting of this knowledge from the EJ experts to the AHSCA consultants will serve to bolster their expertise while also raising awareness of the high EJ standard. The event also highlighted the NATA-approved EJ testing facility, which includes certified instruments used to verify the capacity and durability of access covers. The facility features a hydraulic load testing machine that can evaluate the strength of the products, a water tank simulation machine that is used to test water tightness and instruments for testing the creep resistance and elevated temperature resistance of polymeric/composite products under the new Australian Standard.
EJ were honoured to host the AHSCA consultants for a night of fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, promoting excellence in access cover systems and, of course, barbecue. The gathering served as a platform for industry professionals to engage, learn, and forge stronger connections, hopefully contributing to the advancement of safer, more reliable and durable infrastructure across Australia.
