Brendale Fabrication Teams Recently Worked on Modifying EJ's Heelproof Trench Grates To Work on Corner Section Cross

Early this year, EJ played a pivotal role in devising and manufacturing a unique solution to an uncommon infrastructure problem. In Logan City's busy suburb of Slack's Creek, an impromptu metal bridge had, for many years, been used as a connecting walkway between a carpark traffic island and its adjacent shopping footpath. However, that temporary solution was a precarious and incomplete solution to the problem and needed an update.

The Landscape Construction Company was contracted to rebuild the space and promptly designed a modern and sleek look, complete with a small breath of grass and some native vegetation. The concrete channel that separated the carpark and footpath, however, crucially still needed to be bridged. The unique curve of the walkway made typical grates impractical, so EJ was contacted for guidance.

As a manufacturer and supplier of unique drainage solutions for over 140 years, EJ was well placed to advise and pioneer a custom curved grate that could provide both functionality and style to the updated curb. Working with the site details, EJ engineers were able to extrapolate the dimensions of the concrete drain and calculate the exact alterations that would need to be made to transform EJ Heelproof grates into one elegant, flowing curve.

The EJ manufacturing team got to work precisely machining each section with the necessary individual alterations that would allow the grates to form the integral curve when combined. After re-fitting the essential supports that reinforce each piece, the EJ team swiftly packed and delivered the grates to The Landscape Construction Company team, who began development.
