Miller SafEscape ELITE to the rescue

Miller by Sperian, the worldwide leader in personal protective equipment (PPE), has come to the rescue with the new Miller® SafEscape ELITE, the next generation of automatic rescue descent devices (RDDs).

Designed to evacuate or rescue workers from elevated heights, the Miller® SafEscape ELITE RDD has a number of key features that make it the global solution RDD, offering enhanced safety, greater cost-savings, and increased ease-of-use.

Engineered to comply with the challenging testing methods as set out by the new EN 34/2008 standard, the Miller® SafEscape ELITE RDD ensures enhanced safety under the most challenging of working conditions.

Whether used in rescue or evacuation procedures, the Miller® SafEscape ELITE RDD has been rigorously tested in both wet and dry weather, and thanks to its durable high-quality anodised aluminium housing - remains in optimal condition for use in the toughest environment.

Unlike many competitive units, the Miller® SafEscape ELITE RDD does not require annual recertification. Thanks to the RDDs robust and highly resistant components, the units only require recertification every seven years, reducing down time and lowering cost of ownership.

The Miller® SafEscape ELITE RDD is also approved for multiple descents, and offers a higher maximum descent distance and user weight allowance than other competitors. Using the Miller® SafEscape ELITE RDD, it is possible to descend two people weighing up to 250 kilograms in the event of an emergency. The RDD has a maximum descend height of 500 metres.

The controlled and smooth descend speed of 1 m/s is possible thanks to a centrifugal brake, which controls the descent and also reduces vibration. This speed will increase linearly to 1.4 m/s when used for rescuing two users.

Available in multiple configurations, the Miller® SafEscape ELITE RDD can be equipped with a complete list of optional accessories including a uniquely designed and positioned hand wheel for reduced swaying when lifting, a static Kernmantle rope and an edge protector.

The Miller® SafEscape ELITE RDD is CE certified, and meets EN 341:2008, EN 1496, ISO 22159, and ANSI Z359.4-2007 standards.
