After 3 Years WITH Cementaid DRIWAL WB & After 3 Years Untreated

"ALILA VILLAS ULUWATU RESORT", Bali
Cementaid DRIWAL WB Silicone Masonry Preserver
& Everdure CALTITE System; Membrane-free, "Green Roofs"

Constructed in stages between 2005 & 2008, developers of Bali's exclusive ALILA VILLAS ULUWATU RESORT made extensive use of "Batu Jogia" or "Jogia Stone", a luxurious, creamy-white coloured limestone. The region's high humidity and tropical temperatures however, mean that porous masonry such as Jogia Stone rapidly becomes weathered & discoloured by mold & fungal growth. This denigrates the appearance, reputation & revenue-earning potential of buildings, soaking-up profits in an on-going cycle of cleaning & maintenance costs.

The photos above show two sections of a "mock-up" Jogia Stone wall, after three years exposure to the moist/humid & tropical conditions. The photo on the left shows the section treated with Cementaid DRIWAL WB, water-based Masonry Surface Impregnation and Sealer. The section on the right was untreated. After three years, the DRIWAL-treated areas on the left remain in pristine, new condition, while the untreated areas on the right show severe weathering, staining and discoloration from mold & fungal growth.

After a further 4 years exposure, the Hotel's Maintenance Engineer confirmed that the DRIWAL-treated mock-up wall remained in good condition (i.e. after a total of 7 years @ 2012), without any need for the weekly cleaning required for un-treated wall areas.

During the finishing stages, budget restrictions meant that DRIWAL WB was only used to protect the Jogia Stone used at the hotel's public areas (reception and offices), which was applied in 2007. The photos below were taken in 2015 and show the DRIWAL WB-treated walls, still in good condition after 8 years. The beautiful Jogia stone facades remain in pristine condition, generating premium revenues and maximizing on-going profitability of the resort project.
