These are made from the heart of the pine which is the soft wood inside the trunk and is bark plus resin free. Quick/Easy Initial Stable Stall Setup with 4017 Virgin Pine Bedding

To set up a 4 x 4m stall with a dirt, crusher dust, or concrete floor, purchase 8-10 bags of pure pine bedding, or only 4-6 bags if you have Buckaroo Barn 4005 Interlocking 34mm Thick Cushioned Matting. To spread out the bags, cut a 'X' corner-to-corner at the top of the bag and, whilst on the floor, fold the flaps back and add 9 litres of water (approx. 1 bucket per bag). Let the magic of expansion take place, into fluffy horse stall bedding! It will take around 15-20 minutes, so take a tea or coffee break then come back and evenly rake out the bedding.

Quick and Easy Much Out Daily Routine

For longer use and extra savings, try not to disturb the existing base of the stall bedding. This is what's called the bedding base absorption system and it continues to absorb plus filter urine/liquids down to the floor or matting. There, undesirable fluids are trapped to reduce ammonia build up and, importantly, this filtering system will leave the surface dry, cosy, and comfortable. However, still remove the wet spots daily and replenish with fresh pine bedding; Usually just 1 bag per week per 4 x 4m stall.

You'll note the pine bedding adheres too and coats manure making it easy to muck out. So, you'll keep more bedding in the stall and your muck heap is greatly reduced.

In areas of low humidity, a weekly light sprinkle with a watering can reactivate and re-fluff up bedding that may have dried out.

Muck-out procedure:

Start by picking out the manure with a fine prong fork rake similar to the Buckaroo Barn Range 4011 Bedding Rake, so as to allow any loose bedding to fall back to the stall floor as you scoop, saving additional bedding and outlay.
Identify the wet spots, where it's darker in colour and has clumped. Use your prong fork rake to carefully take out the wet spots without disturbing the entire bedding in the stall and, only if needed, lightly rake over the surface to just even it out - not the base as you will disrupt the established filtering system!

Very wet horses or usage will require more bedding, but due to the smart filtering system and its excellent absorption properties, it will still be better than straw or shavings. After usage as stall bedding, pine horse stall pellet bedding is ideal as a 100% biodegradable soil improver or to spread out in out day yards. Furthermore, pine bedding provides very good insulation.

Tip: Remember to put bedding in your float, as many horses don't like splashback when urinating in the float. So often they will hold the urine in, which is not good for their system.
