Wax Coating Remover Hanafinn X-Duty Graffiti Kleena from Dry-Treat![]() Can a Dry-Treat impregnator penetrate right through an existing sealer? Is it true that the much smaller sealing molecules in DRY-TREAT impregnators can pass right through other sealers? That all depends on the type of sealer the surface was previously sealed with: a) Yes - Dry-Treat impregnators will certainly pass through other impregnators / penetrating sealers, into the pore structure of the material. b) No - if it is a topical coating - these are a solid barrier similar to a layer of plastic and must be fully stripped before another sealer can be successfully applied. If the brand of sealer is known the manufacturer may have a special product or advice for removing the coating. Otherwise, usually a paint stripper that can be bought at any hardware store will work. The stripper is applied, left for a few minutes to work and then cleaned up with dry cloths / towels - this process may need to be repeated many times. It is also important to tackle a small manageable area at a time. Use plenty of dry, white cloths / towels when removing the old surface sealer. c) No if it is a wax coating - these, like topical coatings, block the pores and won't allow an impregnating sealer to pass through. NOTE: Porcelain tiles often come with a wax coating to protect the tiles in transit and from grout and adhesive during installation. Cleaning off a wax coating can also be a tedious process, requiring multiple applications of wax remover and penty of dry cloths / towels. Hanafinn X-Duty Graffiti Kleena is an excellent wax remover.which often arrive with a factory applied wax coating. Make sure you do a test area first.
